Hotel SKT. Annæ is a 4-star boutique hotel based in beautiful buildings dating back to the 17th century. During 2016/2017 the hotel have been going through major renovations and improvements. Among the amazing results of this construction project are a new charming interior design, 99 Deluxe Rooms and a new Restaurant..
In total we offer 147 rooms, which are each individually decorated. The interior design is a modern Copenhagen style, but the buildings charm and historical atmosphere is still preserved. You are invited to experience the Copenhagen vibe from the inside, as we strive to create surroundings, that gives you a sense of life in the Copenhagen backyards and the cozy feeling of Danish homes. This is especially manifested in the color shades throughout the hotel. The talented design duo from SPACE Copenhagen, who were creative directors of the hotel’s redesign, chose the color pallette of the famous Danish painter Hammershøi (1864-1916). Hammershøi kept his colors in a rigorous spectrum, where black, white and shades of brown were essential. He had, for his time, a very outstanding painting style and the aesthetics of his artwork caused debate among art critics. He was born in Copenhagen and lived here his whole life, and the city was often inspiration and subject to his paintings. This special connection to Copenhagen and his way of portraying his beloved city, are what the designers wanted to grasp in the decor and hotel’s atmosphere. Read more about our rooms here.

Originally the hotel was established by Mrs. Svendsen in 1851, and because she could not get the licences that she needed, the hotel was runned illegally. Many of her guests were therefore smugglers and other petty criminals living beside the law. To be let in, you had to give the pass phrase "Neptune".
Due to the old buildings, there is a lot of stories within the walls. During the renovation and construction projects there was a lot of hidden secrets revealed. The project manager often had to alter the plans and come up with new ideas, as the original drawings of the floors did not match what was found, when breaking down the walls. For example the builders thought, that the columns in the reception were carrying elements in the building, but found out that they were originally just placed there for decoration. All these surprises hampered the process, but were also reason for a lot of laughter and funny stories.
A NEW HOTEL
Today we invite you to our peaceful oasis in the vibrant heart of Copenhagen. The new name is inspired by the hotel's residential street ‘Sankt Annæ Plads’ - a plaza with a green recreational space, benches, a playground and a petanque field. The house restaurant, Format, offers a healthy, organic and Danish inspired breakfast buffet, where majority of the food is homemade. In the evening, Format invites you in for food experiences, that are a little out of the ordinary. From Form Bar, you can enjoy a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, wine, cocktails and small meals. We have a delightful lounge area and if the weather is nice, you can enjoy our outside seatings or the cozy rooftop terrace. The bar menu can also be provided as room service.
